Our Certificate in Fire Safety qualification is designed for anyone who has fire safety responsibilities in a small to medium sized organisation. It provides the knowledge and understanding, when combined with relevant experience, to carry out an effective fire risk assessment, as well as embed good practice in the workplace

At the end of the course for the Fire Safety Certificate (FSC), you will have an understanding of:

  • Your organisation meeting its fire safety responsibilities
  • The risk to people and buildings from fire and explosion hazards
  • What control measures will be required to prevent or mitigate the effects of fire and explosion
  • What should be included in emergency plans and what should be done to ensure the effective evacuation of buildings
  • How to prepare a fire risk assessment
Progression

Natural progression from this course would be to take the NEBOSH Diploma, a degree-level qualification which evidence candidates’ expertise as professionals in their field
How it Works

Our Certificate in Fire Safety syllabus is divided into 2 parts FSC1 and FSC2 and covers 6 elements

Unit FSC1

• Managing fire safety
• Principles of fire and explosion
• Fuel, oxygen and ignition sources and control measures
• Fire protection of buildings
• Safety of people in the event of a fire

Unit FSC2

• Fire safety risk assessment

To pass, you will need to complete an Open Book Examination for FSC1 and also complete a practical assessment (FSC2)

FSC1 - Open book exam which you will have 24 hours to complete. It requires you to answer a set of questions relating to real-life scenarios and these exams are available every 2 months

FSC2 - Practical risk assessment, carried out in your workplace using frameworks and standards, such as the Home Office fire guidance and PAS79-1:2020. The time needed to complete the fire risk assessment is not restricted.

There are no formal entry requirements: which makes the NEBOSH Certificate an ideal starting point for your health and safety training but you must have a suitable standard of English language

You will also need access to a computer/ laptop, must have the capabilities to access Dropbox & a Zoom account and have a stable Internet connection

To pass your NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety you will need to complete the Open Book Examination.

Our NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety is also available to complete in our classroom in Dagenham or via our blended learning package

Our NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety consists of 48 hours of study and background reading

Your qualification grade is based only on the result from the question paper (Unit FSC1). But you need to achieve a ‘Pass’ in both units (FSC1 and FSC2) before the parchment can be issued. The grading boundaries are as follows: Distinction, Credit, Pass or Refer
