Structure & Content

The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety is made up of two units: FSC1 and FSC2, covering 6 key elements of health and safety management.

Unit FSC1 – Fire Safety

This unit focuses on the principles and systems needed to manage fire safety effectively, including:

• Managing fire safety.
• Principles of fire and explosion.
• Fuel, oxygen and ignition sources, and control measures.
• Fire protection of buildings.
• Safety of people in the event of a fire.
• Fire safety risk assessment.

Unit FSC2 – Fire Risk Assessment

This unit is highly practical and focuses on identifying, assessing and controlling workplace hazards, related to the aforementioned elements listed above.

Assessment & Exams

We fully prepare you for both assessments and guide you through the process step by step.

FSC1 – Open Book Examination

You’ll have 24 hours to complete the exam, answering questions based on realistic workplace scenarios. Exams are available quarterly, offering flexibility around work commitments.

FSC2 – Fire Risk Assessment

This involves completing a risk assessment in your own workplace, allowing you to apply what you’ve learned directly. The FSC2 Fire Risk Assessment must be completed within 10 days of finishing the FSC1 exam.

You must achieve an appropriate passing mark in both units to gain the qualification.

You’ll need access to a computer or laptop, a stable internet connection, Dropbox and a Zoom account

The course involves 56 hours of study, including taught learning and background reading

Your final grade (Distinction, Credit, Pass or Refer) is based on the FSC1 exam result, but both units must be passed

Certification is valid for life
