Our Environmental Management Certificate qualification is designed for anyone who has responsibilities for managing environmental issues as part of their work. The qualification is designed to be globally relevant and benefit companies in all industry sectors who are seeking to implement effective environmental management systems, increase positive environmental impacts, and reduce negative environmental impacts.

At the end of the course for the Environmental Management Certificate (EMC), you will have an understanding of:

  • Recognising environmental aspects and evaluate current controls;
  • Supporting decision-making with ethical, legal, and financial arguments;
  • The links between your organisation’s activities and wider environmental issues
    Progression

    Natural progression from this course would be to take the NEBOSH Diploma, a degree-level qualification which evidence candidates’ expertise as professionals in their field
    How it Works

    The Environmental Management Certificate syllabus is divided into 2 parts EMC1 and EMC2 and covers 9 elements

    Unit EMC1 – Environmental Management

    • Foundations in environmental management
    • Environmental management systems
    • Assessing environmental aspects and impacts
    • Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies

    Unit EMC2 – Assessing Environmental Aspects & Associates Impacts

    • Controls of emissions to air
    • Control of environmental noise
    • Control of contamination of water resources
    • Control of waste and land use
    • Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency

    To pass, you will need to complete an Open Book Examination for EMC1 and also complete a practical assessment (EMC2)

    EMC1 - Open book exam which you will have 24 hours to complete. It requires you to answer a set of questions relating to real-life scenarios and these exams are available every 3 month

    EMC2 - Practical risk assessment, carried out in your workplace. This must be done with 14 days of completing the EMC2 Open Book Examination

    Important stuff

    There are no formal entry requirements: which makes the NEBOSH Certificate an ideal starting point for your health and safety training but you must have a suitable standard of English language

    You will also need access to a computer/ laptop, must have the capabilities to access Dropbox & a Zoom account and have a stable Internet connection

    To pass your NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate you will need to complete the Open Book Examination.

    Our NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is also available to complete in our classroom in Dagenham or via our blended learning package

    Our NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate consists of 54 hours of study and background reading

    Your qualification grade is based only on the result from the question paper (Unit EMC1). But you need to achieve a ‘Pass’ in both units (EMC1 and EMC2) before the parchment can be issued. The grading boundaries are as follows: Distinction, Credit, Pass or Refer

    Certification for this course is valid for life
